With more than 30 years of geospatial experience spanning both hardware and software solutions, Mark began his career as a geophysicist in mining and exploration before moving into software development. His deep technical expertise, combined with a strong strategic vision, has been key in positioning Geoimage at the forefront of the Earth Observation sector.

Under Mark’s leadership, Geoimage has strengthened and diversified its strategic partnerships, deepening ties with organisations at the forefront of Earth Observation and geospatial innovation. This includes working with SI Imaging Services (SIIS) to enhance satellite imagery offerings, collaborating with Pixxel to integrate hyperspectral imaging capabilities, and partnering with SI Analytics (SIA) to deliver advanced AI-based geospatial analysis. Mark also oversaw the launch of GeoHD, Geoimage’s AI-enhanced imagery platform, and supported the company’s internal growth through the recruitment of new talent to meet increasing client demand and expand technical capacity.

Rocío Vargas Soto

Senior Spectral Geologist & Remote Sensing Specialist

Rocío Vargas Soto is a geologist and geochemist with expertise in spectral mineralogy, driven by a strong interest in leveraging cutting-edge technologies to address real-world challenges in mineral exploration and mining. Originally from Santiago, Chile, she earned both her BSc (Hons) and MSc in Geology from the University of Chile, and later completed her PhD at the University of Queensland. Rocío's professional background includes applied geochemistry, spectral mineral analysis, and geometallurgy, across the mining value chain from early exploration through to mine operations.

Prior to joining Geoimage, she provided technical support at IMDEX in South America, worked as a Project Geologist in exploration projects in the Andes, and most recently worked at the Orebody Knowledge team at Teck Resources Ltd. supporting global exploration & operating mines, combining spectral and geochemical data with advanced data science techniques to provide insights to support resource discovery and development.

At Geoimage, Rocío applies her skills by analyzing spectral satellite data alongside complementary datasets to identify prospective mineral areas and support mine site rehabilitation. She is especially enthusiastic about the growing opportunities presented by emerging hyperspectral satellite missions and data science applied to Geosciences.
