Enhance your DEM’s with Tri-Stereo satellite imaging!
Geoimage is introducing the use of Tri-Stereo; an acquisition method designed to produce a more accurate elevation model than seen with stereo image pairs. Tri-Stereo is composed of three near-simultaneously acquired images that are merged to present a precise and detailed digital elevation model (DEM). The target area is scanned from three different directions (backwards, forwards, and near-nadir), allowing better retrieval of elevation values over terrains without the risk of overlooking hidden items. The stability of Tri-Stereo modelling provides added accuracy and detail to the produced DEM by reducing occlusions caused by limitations such as high roughness, steep slopes and shadows.
The below images of the Kalgoorlie Super Pit in Western Australia demonstrates how comprehensive and detailed Tri-stereo is in its coverage in comparison to stereo. The addition of a near-nadir capture has revealed data along the western side of the mine site that would have been lost using stereo.
With the addition of new satellite technology launching over the next 6 months, 50cm Digital Terrain Models (DTM) with Tri-stereo capacity will be available via Geoimage.
